Ganguly could be signed on by Kochi

Fomer Indian captain Sourav Ganguly may have been snubbed at the IPL auction but it has now emerged that the franchise of Kochi may be keen on signing on the player outside the auction. Earlier, none of the ten sides had bid for Ganguly in the IPL auction which meant that he missed out on getting selected.
However, according to the IPL rules, the team can only sign on a player from auction outside the auction if the remaining nine teams agree to the same. With the IPL governing council being approached for this, it does look like this could lead to an interesting argument.
Ganguly, Wasim Jaffer and VRV Singh were the only three Indian cricketers who did not make it to the teams during the IPL auction. Ganguly’s non-selection had met with a lot of surprise and questions were raised on the political ramifications of the same.
Ganguly had captained the Kolkata Knight Riders in the first and the third season of the tournament.

Robin Uthappa surprised by $2 million price tag in IPL

Out of the Indian team in both the formats of the game, Robin Uthappa has expressed his surprise at having got the $2 million plus deal for the IPL.
Uthappa was won over by IPL franchise Pune for $2.1 million, which fell at the number two position after Gautam Gambhir’s $2.4 million.
Uthappa said that he was happy to be still in demand and that he was worth so much money. Uthappa also added that while he was not expecting something as big, he was looking forward to something close.
He also said that he will miss playing for Bangalore, which is is home town and he plays for Karnataka in the Ranji trophy.
He added that given that he will be a part of the Pune side from their very first season, he will not have any issues adjusting to the tournament.
Uthappa had failed to get selected by the selectors in the 30-member probables squad for the World Cup but has said that he is confident that he will find a way into the side.

Deepak Chahar looks forward to stint with Rajasthan Royals

After taking eight wickets in his debut Ranji trophy innings, Deepak Chahar is a confident man and will play for Rajasthan Royals in the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League.
Chahar was signed up by the Royals post his brilliant performance in the Ranji trophy which helped the side win the tournament this year under the leadership of Hrishikesh Kanitkar. With Rajasthan having a limited purse to spend the money on, they were banking on local players to bail them out again, as they had done in the first season of the tournament.
Chahar spoke to the media and said that while he was happy to be picked by the Royals, he would love to play Test match cricket as well. He said that it was in Test matches that he could test himself for all the qualities required.
Speaking about the IPL itself, Chahar said that he was looking forward to playing in the fourth edition of the IPL and rubbing shoulders with the likes of Shaun Tait.

IPL 2008 Winners – Rajasthan Royals

2008 saw the start of one of the most cash rich cricket leagues in the world in the form of Indian Premier League. 8 teams (Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils, Hyderabad Deccan Chargers, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings XI, Bangalore Royal Challengers and Rajasthan Royals) fought for a period of 8 weeks and 59 games, where eventually the Rajasthan Royals came on top in a close finish against the Super Kings.

Aussie Spin Wizard, Shane Warne, led the Royals (both as coach and captain) to what was an unexpected triumph in the tournament with a team that had very few recognized names. However, experts believed that it was his captaincy, which influenced the likes of Graeme Smith, Shane Watson, Ravindra Jadeja, Yusuf Pathan, Swapnil Asnodkar, Munaf Patel and Sohail Tanvir, to give their best in the tournament.

Yusuf Pathan got the Man of the Match in both Semi Finals and Finals, whereas for his all-round performance, Shane Watson was selected the Man of the Tournament. Again, Sohail Tanvir got the Purple Cap for being the top wicket taker of the tournament.

IPL 2009 Winners – Deccan Chargers

The fairytale run continued in the second edition of the Indian Premier League, but with a different lead, as Hyderabad Deccan Chargers came on top after a disastrous first season.

With South Africa playing the host due to political reasons in India, it was expected that the level of gaming will be higher than ever. Even though it was expected that the turnaround and the atmosphere will not be as good as the subcontinent, but the African fans proved everyone wrong. And in the electronic environment, Deccan Chargers came from a bottom finish in the previous season and ended up winning the IPL.

Former Australian Wicket Keeper, Adam Gilchrist, did the same job as Warne and inspired his team to the next level. The likes of Herschelle Gibbs, Rohit Sharma, Pragyan Ojha, Fidel Edwards, Andrew Symonds, RP Singh and Dwayne Smith gave able support to his captain in winning the tournament. Gilly got the Player of the Tournament for his batting, keeping and captaincy, whereas RP Singh came out with the Purple Cap by being the leading wicket taker of the tournament.

Winners – IPL 2010 – Chennai Super Kings

The Chennai Super Kings named as the IPL 2010 champions with their 22-run win over the Mumbai Indians in a sizzling final at DY Patil Stadium. Suresh Raina, more than any other single player, — made the difference in the final game. Mumbai stayed hot on Chennai’s
