Fomer Indian captain Sourav Ganguly may have been snubbed at the IPL auction but it has now emerged that the franchise of Kochi may be keen on signing on the player outside the auction. Earlier, none of the ten sides had bid for Ganguly in the IPL auction which meant that he missed out on getting selected.
However, according to the IPL rules, the team can only sign on a player from auction outside the auction if the remaining nine teams agree to the same. With the IPL governing council being approached for this, it does look like this could lead to an interesting argument.
Ganguly, Wasim Jaffer and VRV Singh were the only three Indian cricketers who did not make it to the teams during the IPL auction. Ganguly’s non-selection had met with a lot of surprise and questions were raised on the political ramifications of the same.
Ganguly had captained the Kolkata Knight Riders in the first and the third season of the tournament.
